Periodontics in Practice Aims:
- To discuss how to thoroughly screen and assess patients presenting with periodontal disease
- To discuss how to diagnose different presentations of periodontal disease and determine risk factors
- To discuss how to periodontal cases based on history, Investigations, diagnosis and prognosis
- To discuss prognosis of teeth and treatment plan several cases provided
- To outline presentations of peri-mucositis and peri-implantitis and how to address
- To discuss what pills and potions are available as possible adjunctives
- To set practice protocols to achieve ethical and profitable periodontics
Learning objectives
- To be confident to be able to assess and diagnose patients with periodontal disease
- To be confident to treatment plan periodontal cases
- To be confident to be able to assess all risk factors
- To be confident in the diagnosis of peri-mucositis and peri-implantitis
- To be confident what pills and potions are available and what you may wish to use.

BDS, MSc, M.Clin.Dent., MRD RCS, MFDS RCS
Hatem Algraffee qualified as a dentist from the Royal London Hospital in 1996. In 2004 he completed four-year specialist training at Guys Hospital/Kings College achieving two Master degrees.
Since 2004 Hatem has been involved in undergraduate and teaching and has over 15 years teaching experience at all levels. He is passionate and dedicated to teaching and this is reflected in the amount of time committed to mentoring colleagues both during and after completing PerioAcademy courses.
He believes in delivering teaching excellence and to create a relaxed atmosphere to maximize learning. His emphasis is on practical teaching, repetition and then planning cases jointly. Long term mentoring is emphasized to reflect on progress and refinement of skills.
Hatem works in private practice approximately four days a week with remaining time dedicated to Perio Academy teaching and mentoring colleagues.
