The focus is to implement strategies to have a Perio focused team and practice. The benefits are ethical to the patient while ensuring increased profit to the practice. The emphasis is on increasing occupancy rates and uptake of treatment. Attendance of the whole team is encouraged; reception team, nurses, hygienists, dentists and practice manager.
Perio Academy also provides in-house surgical training to include surgical techniques, suturing techniques, crown lengthening and soft tissue grafting.

After attending the Perio Academy course a few years ago, I thought that it would be a great learning experience for my associates to have the training in house for two days.
They wanted to learn specifically about – surgical techniques – crown lengthening – soft tissue grafting – perio focused practice – treatment planning of surgical cases
This was taught over a Saturday and Sunday which is great , as we did not have to take any time out of clinical practice. The days were intensive, informative and extremely enjoyable, especially because we all practiced what we had learnt on pigs heads.
Hatem is a great educator and would thoroughly recommend this in house training.

Surpassed my expectations
I was looking for a training that would give me a sound foundation on aspects of diagnosis, prognosis, assessing patients and treatment planning, taking into account the change in the guidelines.
The course was fantastic and achieved all these aims. Practice on treatment planning cases insured that the group had fully understood the concepts. Hatem ensured that the presentation was in an informal manner and was very welcoming to all questions and made it very easy for us all to ask even what seemed liked basic questions and took the time to make sure we had all understood.
The balance between theory and hands on aspect to learn about surgical techniques was perfect. Both were well covered and in a very systematic format. The hands on aspect was essential, meaning we all felt very enthusiastic and comfortable to consider using these principles in everyday surgery. I have been on lectures by great dentists but they do not give you any hands on experience. Although you come away with the principles of what you should do, they do not give you the same level of confidence that this course has given me. I felt like I couldn’t wait to go back into surgery to be able to offer my patients a better level of care and also surgical options that previously I would have immediately referred or not considered.
Hatem continually asked whether there were other topics that we wished to cover and was very much guided by the group. His presentation and delivery were excellent and very entertaining. Not only did this course fulfil all my aims but surpassed my expectations.
